It's common to assume that a key stamped "WESKO" should be replaced with a Wesko key—but that's not always the case.
Wesko manufactures key blanks that are used by many office furniture manufacturers. The name "WESKO" stamped on the key only identifies the key blank, not the furniture manufacturer or key series.
When ordering a replacement key, you should always select the key based on the manufacturer of your furniture or lock, not the name stamped on the key blank.
Why Does My Key Say "WESKO"?
Many manufacturers purchase key blanks from Wesko and cut them to their own key specifications.
As a result, several different replacement keys may all be stamped "WESKO", even though they are cut differently and are not interchangeable.
In the example above:
- Left: Wesko furniture key
- Center: Inscape furniture key
- Right: HON furniture key
Although all three keys are stamped "WESKO", each is cut differently and is designed for a different manufacturer.
How Do I Order the Correct Replacement Key?
When ordering a replacement key, identify the manufacturer of your furniture or lock, then match the key code.
Do not choose a replacement key based solely on the word "WESKO" stamped on your original key.
Not Sure Which Manufacturer You Have?
If you're unsure which replacement key you need, send us:
- A photo of your original key (front and back)
- A photo of the lock face
- The furniture manufacturer (if known)
We'll be happy to help identify the correct replacement before you place your order.
